Young, Dadson lead Jackfish past Leafs

WELLAND – Christian Young threw six shutout innings and Brendon Dadson picked up three hits to lead the Welland Jackfish to a 6-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday afternoon.

Young (1-0) scattered five hits and issued seven walks while striking out three.

Offensively, Dadson doubled twice, singled and scored, Nolan Pettipiece had two hits and two RBI, Andrew Mercier and Bryce O'Farrell each singled and scored, and Caleb Feuerstake singled, tripled and scored.

For Toronto, Ryan Santos and Ryan Johnston each had two hits.

Marek Deska (1-2) took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out four.

Welland improved to 11-9, and Toronto dropped to 7-12.
