Wilson, Borroto lead Panthers past Leafs

TORONTO – Liam Wilson had three hits, including a solo home run, and the Kitchener Panthers moved one win away from the second round after a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday night at Christie Pits.

Kitchener leads the best-of-seven series 3-1.

Yorbis Borroto also went 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run, Jeff Hunt drove in two, Mike Gordner singled twice, and Mike Andrulis and Andy Leader both had an RBI and scored.

Yoennis Yera (1-0) earned the win after going six innings and allowing an earned run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Miguel Lahera pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save. He scattered two hits and walked one while striking out the side.

For Toronto, Marcus Knecht had a two-run double and a steal, and Cooper Lamb singled twice as the Leafs had five hits in total.

Alberto Tirado (0-1) gave up three runs on six hits in six innings. He walked five and struck out eight.
