Two-run eighth the difference in Baycats' win

BARRIE -- A two-run eighth pushed the Barrie Baycats past Guelph, 4-3, Thursday night.

Ryan Rijo tied the game with an RBI single in the eighth and Barrie (4-0) scored the winning run when Adam Odd reached on an error, allowing Noel McGarry-Doyle to score one of his two runs. Jake Wilson had a hit and a run.

Adam Kahn started and went three innings, allowing a run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Aidan Rossel walked one in a scoreless inning for the win. Brandon Hillier threw a clean ninth for the save.

Dalton Pompey went 2-for-5 in the loss. Conner Morro and Ethan Hammond drove in the Royals’ runs.

Daniel Marquez (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit with two walks and a strikeout in 1.1 innings. Claudio Custodio started and pitched into the seventh, giving up two runs on three hits with a walk and 12 punchouts.
