Torres’ five hits spark Royals
LONDON – Franklin Torres went 5-for-5 with a three-run home run to lead Guelph (18-19) to a 7-6 win over London on Friday night at Labatt Park.
Torres’ blast capped a four-run sixth inning that put Guelph ahead for good. Garrett Takamatsu went 3-for-5 with three RBI, and Andy Leader drove in a run.
Chris Lazar (1-0) struck out two of six batters he faced in relief to earn the win. He took over for Antonio Frias, who was charged with five runs (four earned) on six hits in four innings. He walked four and struck out three. Edgar Garcia stranded the tying run on first base to record his sixth save.
Dre Amaral went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Majors (22-16), who have dropped three straight. Raphael Pelletier singled twice and had an RBI, and Eduardo De Oleo and Byron Reichstein each drove in a run.
Travis Keys (4-3) took the loss after giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits over six innings.
