Three-run ninth lifts London
GUELPH – Tucker Zdunich’s two-run double in the top of the ninth broke a 4-4 tie and sent London to a 7-4 win on Saturday night in Guelph.
Zdunich scored one batter later on Byron Reichstein’s single as the Majors moved to 16-10. Ken Sugi went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Dre Amaral drove in a run, and Champ Garner singled twice.
Ryan Beitel (2-1) allowed an unearned run in one inning of relief to pick up the win. He took over for Victor Payano, who went the first seven innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.
Skylar Janisse threw a scoreless ninth to earn his seventh save.
Brando Leroux went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Royals (11-16). J.D. Williams, Garrett Takamatsu and Blake Simpson all drove in a run, while Ethan Hammond and Marc Nellis had two hits apiece.
Brandon Deans (1-2) gave up three runs on three hits in two innings to take the loss. He walked two and struck out one. Jacob Kush fanned five over seven innings in the start. He was charged with four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk.
