Three-run fourth sends Leafs past Red Sox

TORONTO – Taeg Gollert drove in two as part of a three-run fourth that carried the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over Brantford Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits.

Grant Tamane had the other RBI for Toronto, which fell behind 2-0 in the top of the inning.

Rhys Montgomery (1-0) earned the win, striking out two over three scoreless innings. He took over for Zach Sloan, who went the first four frames and allowed two unearned runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Chris Nagorski picked up his first save, working around a two-out error and single to end the game.

Shamil Ubiera and Nick Burdett drove in Brantford’s runs. Evan Ryan went 2-for-4.

Yunior Yambatis (0-1) gave up three runs on four hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked three.
