Three-run eighth propels Cards past Baycats

HAMILTON – A three-run eighth sent the Hamilton Cardinals to a 4-2 win over Barrie Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Duncan went 4-for-4 in the victory. His triple in the sixth scored the tying run. Jacob Underwood followed with a go-ahead double and Julian Johnson added insurance with a sacrifice fly.
Luis Jean went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Justin Gideon singled and scored.
Jacob Gajic struck out the side in the eighth to pick up the win. He relieved Chris Lazar, who went seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Daury Torrez earned his first save with a scoreless ninth. He scattered two hits and struck out one.
Barrie’s Chris Cox (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing three runs on three hits with two walks in an inning. Riley Hoover started and went five innings, yielding a run on six hits with two walks and three punchouts.
Marcel Lacasse went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Owen Jansen had the other RBI.
Hamilton improved to 2-3 and Barrie dropped to 4-2.
