Solazzo drives in six in Leafs’ win

TORONTO – Johnathan Solazzo homered twice and drove in six to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to an 18-5 win over Brantford Sunday afternoon at home.

Solazzo added a third hit and scored three times as the Leafs moved to 23-16. Dan Marra went 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs, while Damon Topolie, Dawson Parks and Greg Carrington all drove in two. Marcus Knecht drove in three, Connor Lewis scored a trio of runs and Paul Marra drove in one and scored three times.

Zach Sloan (5-2) went five innings for the win, allowing three runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

For Brantford (2-35), Jamiel Orozco had a three-run home run and Jesse Fishbaum added a two-run blast. Nick Burdett went 2-for-4 with a run.

Kendri Salvador (0-6) was charged with the loss after giving up eight runs (seven earned) on five hits over four innings. He walked seven and struck out two.
