Solazzo comes up big in Maple Leafs win

TORONTO - Veteran Johnathan Solazzo had a day to remember for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Solazzo hit a one-out walk off home run at Christie Pit Sunday afternoon to give the Maple Leafs an 8-7 come-from-behind victory and send a sun-baked crowd home happy. But that’s not all. Solazzo had three hits in total and … wait for it, was the winning pitcher. Solazzo, who has not pitched all year, came on to pitch the top of the ninth for the Maple Leafs. He gave up one hit and all that made him the winning pitcher.

London blew leads of 5-1 and 6-3 en route to falling under .500 to 11-12.

Toronto, which scored four runs in the sixth, ups their record to 8-12. Marcus Knecht had his sixth home run for the Leafs. Byron Reichstein had two hits for London, including a home run. Cleveland Brownlee swatted a pair of home runs for London and Mike Ambrose also homered for the Majors.
