Six-run second lifts Baycats

CHATHAM – A six-run second inning, highlighted by three home runs, propelled Barrie (8-3) to an 11-5 win Friday night in Chatham.

Hayden Jaco led off the top of the inning with a solo blast to kickstart a three-hit, three RBI night. After Tyler Plumpton drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Canice Ejoh drilled a three-run home run. The Baycats’ centre-fielder later added a fourth RBI. Noel McGarry-Doyle capped the inning with a solo homer and finished the game with three hits and two RBI.

Noah Hull singled twice and drove in a run and Zach Orchard singled, doubled and scored.

Barrie starting pitcher Frank Garces (3-1) struck out eight over seven innings for the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits.

Spencer Marcus led the Barnstormers (3-8) with four hits, two runs and an RBI. Lee Kucera drove in two, and Seth Strong and Trent Sillett each had an RBI.

Kenny Williams (0-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
