Six-run fourth lifts Jackfish past Baycats


BARRIE – Welland scored all of its runs in the fourth inning, and Jake Harford tossed seven scoreless frames as the Jackfish beat Barrie 6-1 Saturday night on the road.


Tyler Dupuis’ bases-clearing double started the Jackfish fourth-inning barrage. He came around to score on a pair of errors, and Sam Cawker connected on a two-run blast.


Justin Smibert went 2-for-4 with a run as Welland (26-9) moved a game up on London for first place.


Harford picked up his league-leading 10th win. He scattered five hits, walking four and striking out seven.


Carson Burns’ sacrifice fly in the ninth accounted for the lone Baycats’ run. It scored Juan Familia, who had two hits.

Brad Grieveson took the loss, allowing six unearned runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.


Barrie fell to 20-16.
