Seven-run eighth lifts Jackfish

WELLAND – Greyson Barrett’s pinch-hit, bases-clearing triple highlighted a seven-run eighth inning for the Welland Jackfish in an 8-3 home win over Brantford on Thursday night.

Brandon Hupe singled home a pair of runs in the inning and finished with three RBI, and Marco Porcellato added an RBI single to cap a two-hit night. Ethan Pasco drove in a run and later scored in the eighth as Welland improved to 4-3.

Brandon Underhill (1-1) struck out three over 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Jackfish starter Jack Harford went 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Aidan Armitage (0-1) took the loss for Brantford (1-4). The right-handed reliever was tagged for five runs on three hits in an inning. He walked two and struck out one.

Gus Wilson, Kieran Bowles and Nick Burdett drove in Brantford’s runs. Matthew Fabian went 3-for-3 with a run, while Jeremie Veilleux and Vaibhav Desai each had two hits.
