Royals' win streak reaches three
GUELPH – The Guelph Royals' win streak reached three after a 6-5 win over the Kitchener Panthers Saturday afternoon at David E. Hastings Stadium.
Angel Villalona hit a two-run blast with two outs in the seventh inning to give Guelph the lead for good. Jeff MacLeod went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, Sean Reilly went 3-for-4 and scored twice, while Darius Barlas, Ethan Hammond and Justin Interisano each had a hit and drove in a run, and Ethan Mohan singled twice and scored.
Yunior Yambatis (1-2) went seven innings, allowing five runs on five hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Steven Dressler recorded the last six outs for his second save. He struck out three and didn't allow a baserunner.
For Kitchener, Jeff Hunt singled three times and drove in three while walking once.
Yorbis Borroto scored twice, and Tanner Nivins had the other RBI.
Mike Schnurr (2-1) look the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in an inning while striking out two. Christian Hauck started and went five, allowing four runs on eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Welland improved to 10-11, and Kitchener dropped to 14-5.
