Royals win pitchers’ duel
GUELPH – Guelph pitchers Kyle Thomas and Jacob Kush combined to strike out 11 London matters in a dominant three-hit shutout over the Majors on Saturday at David E. Hastings Stadium.
Thomas (1-0) went the first five innings and fanned five while scattering all three hits. Kush finished the game and walked two and struck out six without giving up a hit.
Garrett Takamatsu drove in the lone run in the fourth inning, a single that scored Brando Leroux.
Travis Keys (3-1) was the hard-luck losing pitcher, striking out nine over eight innings and allowing one run on three hits. He also walked two.
