Royals spread offence against Baycats
GUELPH – After snapping a five-game losing streak, the Guelph Royals have now won two straight.
Seven different Guelph players drove in a run in Tuesday’s 13-1 home victory over Barrie. Liam Wilson went 3-for-6 with three RBI, and designated hitter Garrett Takamatsu also drove in three with a sacrifice fly and two-run double as the Royals improved to 13-18.
Brando Leroux went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Matthew Ward, Andy Leader and Jordan Gallo all had two hits, an RBI and combined to score three times, Ethan Hammond drove in a run, Ashton Patterson walked three times and also scored three runs, and Anderson Fenwick plated a pair of runs.
The run support was more than enough for Jacob Kush (3-3), who struck out seven over seven frames. The Royals’ starting pitcher allowed an unearned run on three hits and walked one.
Noah Hull drove in the lone run for Barrie (19-11), which managed just four singles in the game.
Chris Torres (0-1) took the loss on the mound, giving up seven runs on four hits in three innings. He walked six and fanned five.
