Royals roar back to beat Red Sox
BRANTFORD – Guelph scored six straight runs to erase an early deficit and hand Brantford a 6-2 loss Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
After Brantford scored twice in the second inning on Jordan Lewis’s sacrifice fly and an RBI double from Matt Torresan, the Royals pulled to within one in the top of the third when Garrett Takamatsu drove in Jaozef Del Rosario. Guelph pulled ahead in the eighth on a two-run double from Mike Cecchetto.
The Royals (5-1) tacked on three more runs in the ninth to put the game away and drop Brantford to 1-7.
Guelph reliever Yuki Narita fanned the side in the seventh inning to earn the win. Hector Yan started and went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Isaiah Ramos was the losing pitcher after he allowed a run on one hit in the eighth. He walked one and struck out one. Red Sox starter Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo pitched into the seventh inning and yielded a run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
