Royals pound Panthers
KITCHENER – Guelph scored in eight different innings and pounded out 21 hits in a 27-6 win at Kitchener Sunday afternoon.
J.D. Williams hit one of four Royals’ home runs and drove in seven. Josh Garton homered twice and had six RBI, and Garrett Takamatsu went 3-for-6 with a home run and six RBI. Blake Simpson went 4-for-5 with four RBI and six runs, Ryosuke Ohaski had three hits and scored five times, David Stanley drove in a run, Ashton Patterson had an RBI and four runs, Mike Cecchetto singled twice and scored twice and J.D. Rosario plated a pair of runs.
Royals’ right-hander Hector Yan (1-0) picked up the win, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits over five innings with three walks and two strikeouts.
Guelph moved to 2-0.
Jett Jarvis led the Panthers (0-2) with two hits, three RBI and a stolen base. Nick Parsons drove in two and Coulson Reidel added an RBI.
Panthers’ starter Carson Hepburn (0-1) was charged with eight runs over 3.1 innings to take the loss. He walked three, struck out one and scattered six hits.
