Royals pitchers shut down Red Sox

GUELPH – Four Guelph Royals pitchers combined to two-hit the Brantford Red Sox in a 9-0 win Saturday night at David E. Hastings Stadium.


Brandon Deans (2-2) started and went five innings, walking three and striking out six while allowing a hit. Evan Kiser followed that with an inning of hitless relief, walking one and striking out one. Daniel Marquez gave up a hit in two innings, walking one and striking out three and Andrew Case struck out two in a hitless ninth.


Offensively for Guelph (16-9), Conner Morro went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI and three runs. Malik Collymore, Dalton Pompey and Ethan Hammond all drove in a run, Darius Barlas had two RBI, Sean Reilly went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while J.D. Williams and Brando Leroux each scored a pair of runs.


Jesse Fishbaum and Liam Sutherland singled for the Red Sox (2-23).


Kendri Salvadore took the loss, giving up eight runs on 11 hits over seven innings. He walked six and struck out two.
