Royals hang on after early lead

TORONTO – Guelph scored six runs in the first two innings and held on to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 10-5 Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits.

Sean Reilly hit two solo home runs and a single and drove in three, while Josh Garton picked up his first home run of the season and also hit two singles. Ethan Mohan drove in two and scored twice, Darius Barlas had two RBI, and Justin Interisano and Angel Villalona added an RBI apiece.

Fernando Fernandez-Beltran (1-0) took the win, scattering 10 hits and two runs over six innings. He struck out six and didn't issue a walk.

For Toronto, Marcus Knecht went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Justin Marra drove in a run and scored twice, Jonathan Solazzo had two hits and an RBI, while Grant Tamane and Greg Carrington both had two hits and scored a run.

Marek Deska (1-1) took the loss, giving up eight runs (six earned) on seven hits in four innings. He struck out five.

Guelph is now 2-3, and Toronto dropped to 3-4.
