Royals' Garton delivers winning hit in 10th

GUELPH – Josh Garton's one-out double in the bottom of the 10th scored Kyle Kush to give the Guelph Royals a 6-5 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday afternoon at David E. Hastings Stadium.

Garton finished with three hits as the Royals improved to 7-6. Sean Reilly went 3-for-5 with a home run – his fifth – and two RBI, and Angel Villalona singled, homered and drove in two.

Ethan Hammond had an RBI, and Darius Barlas singled twice and scored.

Brett Lawson (3-1) tossed three hitless innings in relief for the win. He struck out two.

Joel Espinal started and went 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

For Toronto, Marcus Knecht tripled, homered and drove in three with a run. Ryan Johnston had an RBI, and Ryan Santos singled twice.

Zach Sloan (0-5) took the loss, giving up two runs on four hits in 3.1 innings. He walked three and struck out two. Starter Marek Deska gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits in five innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Toronto dropped to 5-9.
