Royals double Majors
GUELPH – Guelph moved one game from the second round after a 6-3 win over London in Game 2 of its quarter-final series on Saturday at David E. Hastings Stadium.
Garrett Takamatsu went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the sixth-place Royals, who can advance with a win on Sunday in London. Matthew Ward and Franklin Torres each had two hits and drove in a run, Liam Wilson and Keinner Pina both singled twice, J.D. Williams had two hits, three runs and a pair of steals, and Conner Morro drove in a run.
Jacob Kush (1-0) fanned five over six innings to get the win. He allowed three runs on five hits and a walk. Edgar Garcia pitched a clean ninth for the save.
Kyle Maves had two hits and an RBI for third-place London. Toby Simmons drove in a run and swiped a pair of bases.
Travis Keys (0-1) went the distance on the mound, giving up six runs on 15 hits over eight innings. He walked one and whiffed six.
