Royals deal Cards loss

GUELPH – Guelph scored early and often in a 10-1 home win on Saturday over Hamilton. 

Ethan Hammond started the scoring in the first inning with a two-run single. He added an RBI single in the seventh and then walked the next inning with the bases loaded.  

J.D. Williams drove in three, Garrett Takamatsu had two hits and an RBI, Carson Burns singled twice and drove in two, and Brando Leroux and Blake Simpson each had a pair of hits and combined to score five times. 

Sebastian Rodriguez (1-2) started on the mound and went seven innings, giving up a run on three hits with a walk and four punchouts.  

Guelph improved to 10-13.  

For Hamilton (9-12), Brendon Daley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the seventh inning.  

Freisis Adames (1-3) took the loss after yielding four runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked two and fanned four.
