Royals crown Red Sox

GUELPH – Brando Leroux, Andy Leader and Garrett Takamatsu drove in two runs apiece in the Guelph Royals’ 9-1 home win Tuesday over Brantford.

Both Takamatsu and Leroux had two hits and Leader had one. Keon Koseni also drove in a run. J.D. Williams scored four times and stole three bases.

Royals’ hurler Evan Grills (1-1) was dominant, fanning 13 batters over eight one-run innings. He scattered five hits and walked one.

Jeremie Veilleux had two hits and an RBI for the Red Sox (4-10). Matt Torresan singled twice.

Gregor Farquharson (0-1) gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits over five innings. He walked three and struck out five.
