Reilly & Concepcion Named IBL Players of the Week

CAMBRIDGE – The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its Players of the Week for the week of June 24-30.

Guelph Royals designated hitter Sean Reilly was named Hitter of the Week. In two games, Reilly hit .556 (5-for-9) with two home runs, five RBI and four runs in a pair of Guelph victories.  

For the season, Reilly is slashing .478/.551/.925/1.476. The 42 year old is tied for first in the IBL with nine home runs and is third with 23 RBI in 67 at bats. 

Royals pitcher Yomar Concepcion was named Pitcher of the Week after striking out 14 in a complete-game one-hitter against the Barrie Baycats. Kevin Atkinson broke up Concepcion's no-hit bid to lead off the ninth. Concepcion walked six and threw 84 of 139 pitches for strikes as the Royals won 9-0 and ended the Baycats' seven-game win streak.

The 27-year-old righty is 2-2 with a 2.90 earned-run average, 39 strikeouts and 15 walks in 31 innings.

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is the top level baseball league in Ontario, boasting ex-major league professional and elite NCAA college baseball players. The 2019 season will mark the IBL’s 101st in operation. The IBL is the fifth longest continually operated baseball league in the world and serves as a valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff. More than 40 IBL players have advanced to Major League Baseball or returned to the IBL following their MLB careers.
