Red Sox stay hot at home

BRANTFORD – Brantford stayed hot at home on Friday with a 7-3 win over Toronto.  

It was the Red Sox fifth straight victory at Arnold Anderson Stadium, where they end the regular season Sunday against Hamilton.  

Rene Tachioka drove in two for Brantford on Friday. Lucas Bateman, Lucas Lefebvre and Graham Tebbit all drove in a run, and Jakob Cantor singled twice and scored twice. He also had one of Brantford’s six stolen bases.  

Connor Irvine moved to 4-4 after a five-inning effort. He gave up three runs on five hits with thee walks and two strikeouts. Nicholai Arbach threw four two-hit innings of relief for his first save. He also struck out three.  

Franklin Hernandez (1-2) took the loss after yielding four runs on four hits in 3.1 innings. He walked three and fanned four.  

At the plate, Connor Lewis’ two-run single provided most of the offence. Dennis Dei Baning had the other RBI, while Jordan Castaldo and Mike Cecchetto had two hits apiece.
