Red Sox snap skid
BRANTFORD – The Brantford Red Sox climbed out of an early hole Wednesday at home and hung on to edge Hamilton 6-5 to end its six-game losing streak.
Marcos Castillo went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run for Brantford (9-18), which trailed 4-1 through two innings before putting up five runs in the fourth. Gus Wilson drove in a run and scored twice, and Jeremie Veilleux had a pair of hits.
Brantford pitcher Jeremias Sucre earned the win after giving up a run on four hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Brantford starter Isaiah Ramos went 2.1 innings, yielding four runs on five hits with a walk and strikeout.
Tyler Duncan went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Hamilton (11-14). Tanner Rempel, Josh Niles and Cole Iantomasi added two hits apiece and combined to score five times.
