Red Sox pull away late against Panthers
BRANTFORD – Matt Torresan’s fourth hit of the afternoon was a three-run blast that sent Brantford to a 12-1 home win Sunday over Kitchener.
Torresan’s first longball of the season was the biggest blow in a nine-run seventh inning when the Red Sox sent 14 batters to the plate.
Cassidy Watt went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Lucas Bateman drove in two, Ethan Paulos and Andrew Savage each had two hits and an RBI, Christian Ortega and Nick Burdett had an apiece, and Rene Tachioka went 2-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base.
Aidan Armitage (1-1) tossed five scoreless innings for the Red Sox (3-11). He scattered four hits and struck out four.
Caleb Cain-Plante drove in the lone run for Kitchener (5-8) with an RBI double in the eighth inning. Yosuke Fujie had two hits.
Yadian Martinez (3-3) took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on nine hits with a walk and nine punchouts.
