Red Sox beat Cards for fifth win in six games

BRANTFORD -- The Brantford Red Sox won for the fifth time in six games Friday, beating the Hamilton Cardinals 11-6 under the lights at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Gianfranco Morello, Nick Burdett, Michael Deluca and Jacob Reid all had two hits and an RBI for the Sox (10-16). The foursome also combined to score five runs. Liam Sutherland and Matthew Pilarczyk each drove in a run and scored, Jon Dziomba singled and scored twice, and Robbie Gauthier went 2-for-4 with a run.
Winning pitcher Adam Jafine (3-1) struck out five in 2.2 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief. Starter Jacob English went 2.1 innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Hamilton starter Clay Miller (0-1) took the loss, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits in 2.1 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
Jeremie Veilleux led the way at the plate for the Cards (10-15) with two hits, an RBI and a run. Justin Gideon and Ryan Burnside each had two his and a run. Laine Renaud, Jordan Young and Brandon Nieva all drove in a run.
