Red hot Cardinals beat Royals

HAMILTON – The Hamilton Cardinals' win streak reached seven with a 4-1 win over the Guelph Royals Tuesday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

Justin Gideon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for Hamilton (18-13). Connor Bowie had a pair of doubles, Connor Patterson drove in a run and scored, Mike Ceechetto singled twice, and Chris Beer had an RBI.

Chris Lazar (6-3) went 8.1 innings for the win, allowing one run on 10 hits with a walk and strikeout. Stefan Strecker recorded the last two outs for his second save.

For Guelph (15-16), Sean Reilly doubled and added a solo home run, and Matt Schmidt singled twice.

Brett Lawson (4-4) took the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out four.
