Rain wreaks havoc on July 16 IBL sked

CHATHAM – Rain wreaked havoc on the IBL schedule on Tuesday.

Games in Guelph, against Welland, and Kitchener, against Brantford, were rained out.

Guelph (13-10) was looking to inch closer to third place while facing the top-ranked Jackfish (20-6) on a two-game losing streak. Kitchener (10-16) was aiming to extend Brantford’s six-game losing skid that has dropped the Red Sox to 8-18.

No make-up dates have been announced.

The only game to start was in Chatham, but the Barnstormers’ and London Majors’ matchup was suspended in the sixth inning tied 3-3. London’s Cleveland Brownlee opened the scoring in the top of the second with a three-run blast, but Chatham scored three to tie it before the skies opened up at Fergie Jenkins’ field.

Chatham (12-15) was gunning for its fifth straight win. London (16-9) had a shot to pull into a second-place tie with Barrie. No date has been provided as to when the game will continue.
