Power Rankings - Week Five June 16th, 2025
Father's Day Weekend was full of some great baseball games around the IBL and Sunday saw record attendance numbers across the league.
Some takeaways from last week's action:
Welland stays dominant and balanced in every phase despite their 2nd loss of the season.
London is on a mission with a four-game streak and rising.
Barrie is this week’s biggest mover, climbing three spots.
Guelph’s downturn on offense continued as their slump is now a 7 game losing skid.
Brantford shows sparks and signs that perhaps their dog days are over.
1. Welland Jackfish (Last: 1)
Record: 12–2 | Streak: W1 | Last 10: 8–2
The Jackfish continue to set the pace atop the league. A deep rotation, lockdown bullpen, and consistently potent offense make Welland the team to beat. Even in close games, they find ways to pull ahead late. Saturday’s loss might have derailed the momentum momentarily but that offense run up 66 runs last week.
2. London Majors (Last: 3 )
Record: 10–4 | Streak: W4 | Last 10: 6–4
The Majors are heating up with four straight wins. Led by balanced pitching and a lineup that’s starting to click, London’s recent surge has them back in a threatening position.
3. Chatham-Kent Barnstormers (Last: 2 )
Record: 7–6 | Streak: L1 | Last 10: 5–5
Still above .500 but slipping slightly. The Barnstormers’ offense goes quiet at times, and despite quality pitching, they’ve struggled to keep pace with the league’s top two. Big week ahead to regain momentum.
4. Barrie Baycats (Last: 7)
Record: 6–6 | Streak: W4 | Last 10: 6–4
Barrie is surging with four straight wins and playing their most complete baseball of the season. Clutch at bats onin their weekend tilt with Welland. They’re quickly returning to what we expected from last year's champs
5. Toronto Maple Leafs (Last: 6 )
Record: 7–7 | Streak: W1 | Last 10: 6–4
The Leafs are back to .500 and playing steadier ball. A few wins have helped, but their bullpen will need to be better if they want to climb into the top three.
6. Hamilton Cardinals (Last: 4)
Record: 6–8 | Streak: L2 | Last 10: 4–6
A couple of tough losses dropped Hamilton out of the top five. Their offense remains unpredictable. Bounce-back week is crucial.
7. Brantford Red Sox (Last: 8th)
Record: 3–11 | Streak: W2 | Last 10: 2–8
Despite their record, Brantford is on a mini-roll with back-to-back wins. Still a long road back, but signs of life—especially on the mound—are finally showing. Let's see where this week takes them.
8. Guelph Royals (Last 9th)
Record: 4–9 | Streak: L7 | Last 10: 3–7
Guelph is in freefall after a seven-game skid. The offense has vanished, and despite solid individual efforts, the team hasn’t clicked. Urgent turnaround needed. Did give Welland a game on Sunday but the bats leave a lot to be desired.
9. Kitchener Panthers (Last 5th)
Record: 5–8 | Streak: L1 | Last 10: 3–7
Struggling to keep themselves in ballgames early, Key example was London’s two out rally in the bottom of the 1st inning Friday night . They plated 5 runs and the team put their heads down. Surrendered 43 runs last week.
