Porcellato grand in Jackfish win

CHATHAM – Matteo Porcellato’s grand slam lifted Welland to a 12-4 win on Sunday in Chatham. 

Porcellato’s hit came in the Jackfish’s eight-run fourth inning to blow the game open. Pier-Olivier Boucher and Joshua Marchese each homered and drove in two, Gianfranco Morello, Austin Gomm and Greyson Barrett all had an RBI, while Jonah Weisner and Brendan Luther each had two hits and a run.  

Teodoro Ortega (5-0) earned the win on the mound after allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings. He walked three and struck out 10.  

Welland improved to 21-6 with its sixth consecutive win.  

Aden Ryan (3-2) was charged with six runs on three hits in 3.1 innings. He walked 10 and struck out two.  

Offensively, Seth Strong hit a two-run blast. Spencer Marcus and Owen Constantineau hit solo home runs. 

The Barnstormers fell to 15-12.
