Pineda powers Red Sox past Baycats

BARRIE -- Jason Pineda went 3-for-6 with a home run and two RBI in Brantford's 16-9 win in Barrie Thursday night. 

Michael Deluca and Gianfranco Morello each went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, Nick Burdett drove in a run and scored three times, Matthew Pilarczyk and Zach Rachar both drove in a run, Jacob Reid had an RBI on three hits while scoring twice, Robbie Gauthier had three hits, three runs and two RBI, and Zach Lampreia singled, doubled, scored twice and scored once. 

Red Sox starter Bennett Moore (1-3) went 5.2 innings, yielding seven runs on 12 hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Gabe Bruder earned his first save, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits over 3.1 innings. He walked one and struck out two. 

Ryan Rijo led Barrie with four hits, an RBI and a run, Jeff Cowan went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Avery Tuck homered and drove in two, Marcel Lacasse had an RBI, and Tyler Plumpton went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. 

Riley Hoover (0-1) took the defeat, giving up six runs on eight hits with a walk in 1.1 innings. 

Brantford (11-17) is now tied with Hamilton for sixth place in the league, while Barrie (12-16) sits fifth.
