Payano benefits from Majors’ offence
LONDON – Seven first-inning runs was more than enough for London Majors’ pitcher Victor Payano, who stuck out eight over five shutout innings in a 7-0 win over Chatham-Kent Monday night at Labatt Park.
Payano (5-3) scattered three hits and walked one. Tyler Gillies finished the last four innings to earn the save. He yielded four hits and struck out two.
Eduardo De Oleo and Cleveland Brownlee each had two hits and an RBI for the Majors (21-13). Kaiden Cardoso and Champ Garner both went 2-for-4 and drove in two.
Seth Strong went 2-for-4 for the Barnstormers (16-21), and Mitsuki Fukuda doubled.
Cam O’Reilly (3-4) was lifted after allowing six runs on five hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.
