Panthers use longball to beat Majors

LONDON – Kitchener hit three home runs to beat London 6-4 on Friday at Labatt Park.  

Matteo Zeppieri hit a two-run blast, while Yordan Manduley went 3-for-4 with a solo home run. He finished a triple short of the cycle. Charlie Towers also hit a solo blast.  

Yosvani Penalver singled twice and drove in a run, and AJ Karosas singled twice.  

Yadian Martinez (6-6) earned the win on the mound after giving up two runs on four hits in six innings. He walked three and fanned seven. Danny Garcia went two innings for his fourth save. He gave up a run, walked one and struck out two.  

Kitchener improved to 13-20.  

Eduardo De Oleo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for the Majors (19-12). Brad Verhoeven and Ken Sugi also had two hits and an RBI, and Francisco Fajardo drove in the other run.  

Travis Keys (3-2) took the loss on the mound. He was charged with four runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out three.
