Panthers use longball to beat Cards
KITCHENER – Six Kitchener players went deep in a 21-12 win over Hamilton Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.
Three of them came in Kitchener’s 10-run first inning. Eric Martin hit a two-run blast and finished with four RBI. Keegan Marsden followed up with a solo home run and Blake Jacklin added a two-run shot as part of a three-hit game in which he scored five times. Liam Wilson went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and four runs, Stephen Whalen homered, singled, drove in four and scored twice and Tyler Hinrikus added a solo shot.
Jacob Douglas (4-1) went six innings for the win, allowing six runs on seven hits over four innings. He walked one and fanned four.
Adrian Salcedo (1-2) took the loss, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on six hits in one-third of an inning. He walked two and struck out one.
Offensively, Justin Gideon went 3-for-6 with two home runs and four RBI. Tyler Duncan had three hits, including a home run, four RBI and scored twice, while Jeremie Veilleux hit his first home run and singled twice. Laine Renaud had two hits and scored.
