Panthers strike early in win over Leafs

KITCHENER – Kitchener scored in each of the first five innings and cruised to a 15-8 win over Toronto Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.

Jett Jarvis, Andy Leader and Robbie Gauthier all went deep for the Panthers (15-25), who led 13-0 before the Leafs got on the board in the sixth. Jarvis drove in two, Leader had four RBI and Gauthier brought home three as the trio combined for six hits and five runs.

Keegan Marsden had two hits, three runs and an RBI, Stephen Nahrabeki picked up two hits, two runs and an RBI, Stephen Whalen went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Liam Wilson singled, doubled and scored three times and David Poison drove in a run.

Adam Robertson (1-3) scattered three hits over five scoreless innings for the win. He walked five and struck out two.

Johnathan Solazzo homered twice and drove in five to lead the Leafs (23-17). Greg Carrington went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, Connor Lewis had three hits and a run and Dan Marra singled twice.

Dylan Jacober (4-1) took the loss, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits over four innings. He walked four and didn’t pick up a strikeout.
