Panthers shut down Red Sox

KITCHENER – Owen MacNeil tossed six scoreless innings, and the Kitchener Panthers’ offence did the rest in an 8-2 win over Brantford on Thursday at Jack Couch Park.  

MacNeil (3-2) scattered three hits over six innings, walking five and striking out six.  

At the plate, AJ Karosas and Petey Kiefer each drove in two in the Panthers’ four-run eighth inning that blew the game open. Nicolas KyRose hit a two-run double, Yosvani Penalver singled home a run, and Mateo Zeppieri added a solo blast. 

Kitchener improved to 14-21.  

Jakob Cantor and Carlos Ortega drove in Brantford’s runs in the ninth inning as the Red Sox fell to 6-27. Rene Tachioka singled, doubled and stole his league-leading 22nd base. 

Brantford starting pitcher Colby Klepper (1-6) took the loss after allowing three unearned runs in three innings. He scattered three hits, walked two and struck out eight.
