Panthers rebound to beat Red Sox

KITCHENER – The Kitchener Panthers rebounded from Saturday's loss to Welland with an 8-4 win over the Brantford Red Sox Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park.

Keegan Marsden singled, homered and had two RBI and two runs for the Panthers (13-3). Yorbis Borroto drove in three, Jeff Hunt and Andy Leader each had an RBI, Mike Gordner singled, doubled and scored, and Zach Johnson plated a pair of runs.

Jasvir Rakkar (2-0) threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for the win, allowing a hit while striking out two. Starter Yoen Socarras lasted 5.1 innings, yielding four runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Gianfranco Morello hit his first home run and drove in two for the Red Sox (1-16). Jesse Fishbaum went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Nick Zarzycki drove in a run.

Abel De Los Santos (0-3) took the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
