Panthers pound Leafs
TORONTO – Runta Osawa and Trent Lawson homered, and Evan Elliott struck out seven over six innings to lead Kitchener to an 11-3 win on Saturday afternoon in Toronto.
Down 1-0, Lawson hit a solo blast to lead off the third inning, and Osawa connected for a two-run home run later in the frame as the Panthers took a 5-1 lead and didn’t look back.
Yordan Manduley went 2-for-6 with two RBI and three runs, Yunior Ibarra singled twice and drove in a run, Yosuke Fujie went 2-for-5, and Charlie Towers hit a two-run single as Kitchener improved to 9-14.
Elliott allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk as he moved to 2-2.
Ryan Dos Santos hit a solo home run for the Leafs (11-13). Jhon Javier went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Adam Jafine (0-2) went 4.2 innings and allowed 11 runs, though only four were earned thanks to five errors. He was touched for 10 hits, walked one and struck out eight.
