Panthers pounce on Majors

KITCHENER – The hottest team in the league resides in Kitchener.  

The Panthers improved to 7-3 in their last 10 games after a 5-4 victory over London on Thursday at Jack Couch Park.  

Yosukie Fuki singled and hit a solo home run for Kitchener (16-22). AJ Karosas doubled twice and drove in a run, Trent Lawson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Yunior Ibarra and Charlie Towers each drove in a run 

Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo (1-0) went five innings for the win on the mound. He gave up two runs on six hits with two walks and two punchouts. Jake Liberta earned his first save after allowing two runs on five hits in four innings of relief. He walked four and struck out three.  

For London, leadoff hitter Kyle Maves went 4-for-5 and finished a home run short of the cycle. Champ Garner drove in the other run, and Francisco Fajardo and Raphael Pelletier had two hits apiece.  

Alex Springer (0-1) was lifted with one out in the fourth inning. He was charged with four runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
