Panthers pounce on Barnstormers

KITCHENER – Nolan Misa and Ryan Burnside each homered in the Kitchener Panthers’ 9-3 win over Chatham-Kent on Thursday at Jack Couch Park.

Misa hit a two-run blast to put Kitchener (2-5) ahead in the second inning, and Burnside went deep with a runner on to spark a four-run seventh inning that put the game away. Stephen Whalen had two RBI and Jorden Carthy drove in a run and scored twice.

Yadian Martinez (1-1) fanned 10 over seven innings. He allowed a run on six hits with two walks.

Lee Kucera had three hits and an RBI stop the Barnstormers’ lineup. Torrin Vaselenak drove in the other run.

Losing pitcher Aden Ryan (1-2) was touched for three runs on four hits over four innings. He walked five and struck out two.
