Panthers inch closer to first place
BRANTFORD – The Kitchener Panthers moved a half game from first place after a 13-9 win over the Brantford Red Sox Friday at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Yorbis Borroto drove in three and scored twice, Jeff Hunt went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs, Liam Wilson had three hits, three RBI and two runs, Brian Burton drove in two, Zach Johnson doubled twice and scored, Ryley Davenport had two hits and a run, and Andy Leader had an RBI and a run.
For Brantford, Gianfranco Morello had four hits, three runs and an RBI, Luis Perez drove in two, Doug Parks drove in three and had three hits, Chris Iltshishin went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Jesse Fishbaum had two hits and a run, and Toure Sinclair went 2-for-5 with two runs.
Michael Bannon (1-5) took the loss, allowing seven runs on five hits in one-third of an inning. He walked two and struck out one.
Victor Mueses started and went five innings, surrendering three runs on four hits with four walks and nine strikeouts.
Kitchener (24-11) trails Barrie by a half game atop the IBL standings but has a game in hand. Brantford dropped to 5-30.
