Panthers hang on to beat Cardinals

HAMILTON -- The Kitchener Panthers built a comfortable lead in the middle innings and held off a late Hamilton rally to edge the Cardinals 11-10 Tuesday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

Liam Wilson homered -- his fifth of the season to tie three others atop the IBL -- and drove in two in the victory. Kitchener led 11-5 entering the bottom of the eighth, but Hamilton scored three in that inning and added two more in the ninth. 

Jett Jarvis went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two runs and a pair of stolen bases, Carter Arbuthnot drove in two, AJ Karosas and Blake Jacklin each had two hits and combined to score four times, while Lucas Diluca, Keegan Marsden and Nick Parsons all drove in a run. 

The Panthers (9-3) stole six bases on the night. 

Jeremie Veilleux went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run for the Cardinals (7-9). Justin Gideon homered and drove in three, Laine Renaud went 3-for-4 with three runs, Tristan Osika had two hits, an RBI and a run, and Jordan Young added an RBI. 

Owen MacNeil (0-2) was touched for seven runs (six earned) on four hits over three innings. He walked six and struck out three.
