Nine-run seventh lifts Barnstormers

CHATHAM – Chatham-Kent scored nine runs in the seventh inning to stun London 10-6 on Tuesday night at Fergie Jenkins Field.  

Trailing 6-1 at the time, the Barnstormers racked up eight hits – three of which were home runs – to pull ahead for good.  

Owen Constantineau started the rally with his second solo longball of the game. Torrin Vaselenak followed that up with another solo shot, and Sadler Goodwin added a three-run blast. Spencer Marcus doubled home a run, and Evan Morrison added a two-run single to complete the scoring. Chatham-Kent (18-15) also scored a run on one of three wild pitches in the frame.  

Mizuki Akatsuka (4-4) started on the mound and went seven innings, giving up six runs on 11 hits. He walked one and struck out nine.  
Ryan Beitel (2-2) took the loss for London (21-13) after allowing nine runs on seven hits in two-thirds of an inning. He walked one and fanned three, with one batter reaching base on a dropped third strike.  

Nate Bennett started and only gave up a solo home run in three innings. He walked one and struck out three.  

Offensively, Toby Simmons hit a three-run home run, Champ Garner singled twice, Tucker Zdunich drove in a run, and Francisco Fajardo went 4-for-4 with an RBI stop the Majors’ lineup.
