Narita cools down Baycats
BARRIE – Yuki Narita didn’t care that Barrie had won four straight games.
The Guelph Royals’ Japanese right-hander (3-0) twirled six shutout innings Thursday at Vintage Throne Stadium, scattering two hits around a walk and six strikeouts in the team’s 5-0 win.
Guelph (14-10) scored all of its runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by Blake Simpson’s bases-clearing double that preceded Garrett Takamatsu’s two-run single.
Hayden Jaco, Nolan Machibroda and Ryan Rijo had Barrie’s hits.
Adam Kahn (0-1) took the loss. He gave up two unearned runs on two hits with a strikeout over 1.1 innings of relief. Starter Cesar Rosado lasted 6.2 innings and gave up three runs on two hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
