Mueller, offence come alive in Red Sox win

HAMILTON -- Mike Mueller struck out eight over six shutout innings, and the Brantford Red Sox offence came alive in the late innings of an 18-3 win over Hamilton Monday at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. 

Mueller scattered five hits and didn't issue a walk as he improved to 2-1. Brantford led 2-0 through six innings before scoring eight runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to pull away. 

Nick Burdett homered and drove in five to lead the Red Sox (8-15) to their third straight victory. Michael Deluca went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and scored three times, Liam Sutherland drove in three, Zach Lampreia had two hits, two RBI and two runs, Spencer Voisin picked up two RBI and scored three times, Jacob Reid drove in a run and scored twice, Ricky Murray singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice, Jason Pineda had a pair of hits and scored twice, and Gianfranco Morello plated a pair of runs. 

For Hamilton (10-13), Justin Gideon had two hits and a stolen base, Chris Procopio singled and doubled, and Brandon Nieva went 2-for-4 with a run. 

Cards starting pitcher Ryan Clark (0-1) gave up six runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
