Mercier and Miller Named IBL Players of the Week

CAMBRIDGE – The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its Players of the Week for the week of July 15-21.
Welland Jackfish catcher Andrew Mercier was named Hitter of the Week after batting .500 (6-for-12) with six RBI and two runs in three games. For the season, Mercier is slashing .282/.348/.333/.681 with 19 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base in 78 at bats.
Hamilton's Clay Miller was named Pitcher of the Week after going eight scoreless innings in a 9-0 win over Welland July 18. Miller scattered three hits and walked four while striking out eight. He helped his own cause at the plate with a three-run home run.
Overall, Miller is 3-1 with a 3.33 earned-run average. He has 54 strikeouts in 51.1 innings.
