Marsden’s double gives Panthers edge over Royals

KITCHENER -- Keegan Marsden’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth was the difference in the Kitchener Panthers’ 4-3 win Sunday over Guelph at Jack Couch Park.

Andy Leader accounted for the other runs with a two-run blast to open the scoring in the third. Simon Grinberg singled twice as Kitchener moved to 2-2.

Nathan Laird walked one in a scoreless sixth to earn the win. Leader threw a perfect ninth with a strikeout to pick up his first save.

Jacob Douglas started and went four innings. He was charged with an unearned run on one hit with a walk and three strikeouts.

Noah Roberts drove in two runs for the Royals (2-3). Malik Collymore had the other RBI. Ethan Hammond went 2-for-3 with a run

Nelson Mercado took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out two.
