Marra’s home run leads Leafs
BARRIE – Justin Marra’s solo home run in the top of the eighth was the difference in Toronto’s 3-2 win Sunday in Barrie.
The seventh-seeded Leafs lead the best-of-five quarter-final 2-1 and host Game 4 on Tuesday. Ryan Dos Santos hit a solo home run to lead off the game, and Marcus Knecht added a solo blast in the sixth. Dennis Dei Baning singled twice.
Luis Florentino (1-0) struck out five of the eight batters he faced to earn the win in relief. Josh Berenbaum started and went 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts.
Brandon Hernandez and Tristan Clarke each had two hits for the defending champion Baycats. Francisco Hernandez had an RBI single.
Carlos Sano (0-1) took the loss after yielding a run on one hit in 2.1 innings. He walked two and struck out one. Cesar Rosado started and went four innings. He gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and two punchouts.
